Write-up
Issues with multiple applications
Summary:

On October 20, 2025, an outage in the Amazon Web Services (AWS) us-east-1 region caused a widespread disruption impacting the telephony and communication infrastructure of one of Brevo’s third-party partners.

Because our services such as Phone, Meetings video calls, SMS delivery, and SMS-based 2FA depend on this partner, the incident led to degraded performance across several Brevo components.

Impact:
  • Brevo Calls: Outgoing and incoming phone calls were unavailable for users during the outage period.

  • Brevo Meetings: Video calls experienced degraded performance, with intermittent availability for some users.

  • SMS Delivery and 2FA: Message delivery was delayed during the incident primarily in the US and UK, but all queued messages were successfully replayed once the partner’s systems recovered - no messages were lost.

  • All other Brevo services remained fully operational.

Root Cause:

The issue was triggered by a major disruption in AWS’s us-east-1 region, which in turn affected the infrastructure of our telephony and messaging provider.

Since multiple Brevo services depend on this partner for communication capabilities, the outage caused temporary degradation across related features.

You can find the official AWS summary here: AWS Incident Report – October 20, 2025

Resolution:

As AWS mitigated the underlying issues, our partner’s systems began to recover.
Our team continuously monitored restoration progress, validated service health, and replayed all delayed SMS messages.

All phone, video call, and SMS Delivery/2FA functionalities were confirmed fully restored once the partner reported complete recovery.
